Thermo-GEN EX insulation products are thermal insulations designed for use in explosion hazard zones. Their external surface is made of glass fiber coated with a special conductive layer of PTFE.
Genergo company commissioned the Laboratory of Electrostatic Properties Research at the Institute of Textile Engineering in Łódź to conduct measurements of specific resistance and leakage resistance of the submitted material samples. Based on the tests, it was found that the material proposed by us meets the requirements of the PN-E-05203:1992 standard for electroconductive materials and can be used without restrictions in facilities or areas at risk of explosion, provided that reliable grounding is ensured.
Safety first
Installations in explosion hazard zones must be well thought out and properly designed. Electric charges from the surface of insulation elements and devices should be directed to the grounding system. Insulating hot surfaces of installations not only yield benefits but also significantly increase the safety of employees working near technical installations, as well as those involved in operating technical infrastructure, which is one of the priorities in responsible management of such facilities and processes in modern times.
Additionally, the proposed type of product allows for trouble-free inspection of insulated elements. Thermal insulation covers enable the isolation of a part or the entirety of a device, which is particularly important and useful during periodic technical inspections, e.g., inspections of steam condensate traps.
